Maximising Potential: Flexible Staffing Solutions

As a response to the need for UK employers to look at using flexible labour in order to benefit their businesses during the current economic difficulties, the REC has now launched its Flexible Work Commission; an expert group which will drive practical recommendations to Government and business on re-energising the UK’s flexible labour market and focus more on flexible working patterns which will also enable businesses to bring in the right skills needed at that time to enhance a company’s productivity.

Temporary or flexible workers are not just beneficial to the company hiring them, but the arrangement can also be hugely beneficial to the employee themselves. The Commission will be looking at how flexible workers are able to enhance their own skills development and career prospects by taking on temporary positions, which give them experience in a wider variety of work environments and situations.

Jayne Harding, Senior Consultant for the temporary division of Jobshop UK agrees that hiring temporary staff makes financial sense to a business in the current economic climate;
“At Jobshop, we have certainly seen an upturn in the number of temporary bookings and contracts over the last 6 months,” explained Jayne.
“This is a great way for companies to fill a need without committing to a permanent member of staff whilst things are still precarious within the economy. Flexible staffing solutions enable a business to respond quickly to new opportunities and benefit from a dynamic and flexible labour market.”
With over fourteen years of experience matching and placing temporary workers to suit a Company’s needs, and as member of the REC, Jobshop UK will be providing regular input into the work and policy recommendations of the Commission.
