6 May 2010The everywoman in Business Election Survey Results
With polling stations set to close in just a number of hours we've taken a look at the response of our everywoman in Business Election Survey, and it reveals some interesting findings. Most notable is the fact that this election will be a closely fought battle, based around what the parties' policies are around the economy and supporting our respondents businesses. Questions are raised as to whether women in business and female employees are given enough focus. One hundred per cent of those who filled in the survey were women, and 65% were business owners.
13 Apr 2010Gwyn Burr in Marketing
During my journey home, wedged between a back-pack traveller and a suited commuter, I managed to open my copy of Marketing and as I struggled to turn the pages I was thrilled to see a profile on Gwyn Burr, Customer Director at Sainsbury's. There was no way I was going to be squashed out of reading this article! Gwyn Burr is not only an influential businesswoman she was also named ‘Woman of the Year' at The Specsavers everywoman in Retail Awards last year. So with unabashed elbow manoeuvres, I read more about the inspirational woman that I had heard much about in the office.

With much unrest in the current climate it is difficult to know whether now is a good time to consider moving jobs or changing careers - with many wanting to hold on in there because surely it's better to just have a job! Recent figures, particularly for graduates, show the public sector is the most popular area of interest, even with the likelihood that this sector is going to face big cuts and change.

5 Feb 2010Conference Confidence
It's been a few months since the National everywoman Conference but we're still feeling reverberations from a great event. This week we heard from Paula Wynne, one of our contributors at last November's event. She felt so inspired by what she saw and heard on the day, and most importantly who she met - like-minded women in business - that she decided that night to take a leap and get a book published, an idea she'd had for a long time but had never progressed with. Sure enough, this week she received a publishing deal. That's fantastic news - Paula made for a really captivating panelist in the 'Build Your Online Presence for Business Success' so we look forward to reading her book!
